Spring Luncheon 2026

Please join us on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Junior League of Houston for a delicious lunch and an interesting, inspiring, and refreshingly non-partisan presentation by  Linda Lorelle and Jean Becker.

“Finding Common Ground:   Strategies for Civil Dialogue and  Healing the Divide”

Worried about the divisiveness in our country, friends Jean Becker and Linda Lorelle decided over lunch one day it was time to stop complaining about it and start doing something. They founded a nonprofit organization called Civil Dialogues, whose aim is to help us find common ground, even during tense and confrontational conversations.

Traveling around the country, they have tackled such topics as immigration, climate change, the Israeli-Gaza conflict, the importance of bipartisanship, and the growing distrust of politicians and the political system.

They bring to the table not only their years of experience in the world of media and politics, but also two very different backgrounds.  Jean, who grew up on a farm in white mid-Missouri, worked for 30 years for a powerful Republican family.  Linda grew up a Democrat in the predominantly black neighborhood of South Side Chicago before becoming the evening news anchor of the NBC affiliate in Houston, Texas.

Between them, they have heard it all.

Now they want to help us figure out how to handle it all.

Jean Becker will have her new book that was coauthored with Tom Collamore (both former Presidential staffers) – “Don’t Tell the President” (the Best, Worst & Mostly Untold Stories from the Office of Presidential Advance) available for sale and signing.
