Frida: The Making of an Icon – Organized by the MFAH, this ambitious exhibition tells the extraordinary story of how Frida Kahlo, little recognized during her lifetime, became one of the world’s most influential artists decades after her death. Paintings and memorabilia by the artist, along with works by five generations of artists from the 1970s to today, will trace the transformation of her reputation from a relatively unknown painter to a universal icon. The exhibition premieres at the MFAH in January 2026, then travels to Tate Modern in London.
