Christmas Brunch - December 13
 

The Shell NW Alumni Club invited SAAGH members to join them for their Christmas Brunch at the beautiful Northgate Country Club. This year's event featured a sit-down luncheon with all the trimmings and entertainment by a special guest performer, Rob Landes.
 

Degas Exhibit - December 1

We had 37 attendees and 4 charming docents. We learned that not only is Houston the only location in the Americas for this exhibit, it is one of only two locations in the world! The exhibition spanned his entire career, including paintings he made in New Orleans while visiting relatives.
 

       

2016 Wine Tasting - November 8

33 Shell retirees attended this year�s wine tasting event at the Houston Club atop One Shell Plaza which focused on the world�s favorite red wine grape: Cabernet Sauvignon.  For this year�s event attendees sampled the Cabernet grape in many different forms both domestically and internationally as a single varietal or in different blends.
 


 

 
Annual Luncheon - October 6

240 Shell alumni attended the Annual Luncheon held at the Lakeside Country Club on October 6. Bruce Culpepper, President of Shell oil and head of the U. S, Country Leadership Team was our guest speaker. Central Market Cooking Class - Thursday, September 8

Thirty Shell alumni enjoyed a fun evening at the Central Market Cooking School preparing delicious dishes and learning new recipes. This event sold out in less than a day after it was announced. Due to its popularity, another class is planned for early next year. Many thanks to SAAGH Director Steve Paul for organizing this fantastic evening.
 
                
 

 

 

 

 
 

Houston Astros Baseball Game - Wednesday, August 17

Shell Retirees attended the Houston Astros vs the St Louis Cardinals game at Minute Maid Park on Wednesday, August 17. Prior to the game, many of the attendees met at the FIVESEVEN GRILL inside Minute Maid Park for lunch and fellowship. Many thanks to SAAGH Directors Jimmie Isaac, Ken Broussard and Rick Swain for organizing this event.
 





Early Registration Astros Suite Winners - Sunday, August 7

Alley Theater - Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Forty Shell Alumni met for dinner at Birraporetti�s and then went to the remodeled Alley for a performance of Agatha Christie�s Spider�s Webb at the Hubbard Theatre.
 

"Time for Wine" at The Tasting Room - Thursday, June 23
 


The June event at the Tasting Room in City Centre was a great escape f
rom the Houston heat. Thanks to all of you who joined us at the Tasting Room. Who knew we'd get such a huge turnout!  30 people came and enjoyed great conversation and some chillaxin' sips. Let us know if you'd like to see similar events at other venues. We love your suggestions. 

 

2016 Annual BBQ Luncheon - May 18
 

Great fun at the Shell Alumni Annual BBQ! We weren't able to use the Farm & Ranch Club this year, due to the floods, but the Palacio Maria event center turned out to be a great location. The event staff and Demeris' BBQ did a great job. Thanks to SAAGH Directors Jimmie Isaac and Rick Swain for putting on an awesome event! Over 110 Shell Alumni attended and a number of door prizes were raffled off to lucky winners.

















Houston Astros Baseball - Wednesday, May 11
 

29 SAAGH members met up with members of the Shell Alumni NW club on Wednesday, May 11 at Minute Maid Park to watch the Astros beat the Cleveland Indians in a 16 inning game. Prior to the game they had lunch at the Home Plate Bar & Grill. Many thanks to SAAGH Vice President Val Brock and Director Ked Broussard for organizing this event. Another baseball game event is being planned for August 17, when the Astros play the St Louis Cardinals.


 

Round Top Antique Fair - Saturday, April 2
 

A bus excursion to the Round Top Antique Fair, including a visit to the Brazos Valley Brewing Company in Brenham was held on April 2. 39 Shell Alumni enjoyed the ride through central Texas at the height of bluebonnet season. Many thanks to Val Brock and Walt Rawlings for organizing and leading this trip.
 








Spring Luncheon - Friday, April 1


Over 80 Shell Alumni attended the Spring Luncheon was held at the Marriot Energy Corridor Hotel on April 1 with the President and CEO of Motiva Enterprises, LLC, Dan Romasko, as our guest speaker. Many thanks to SAAGH Directors, Linda Durant, Jose Salano and John Kiappes for hosting this event.
 








Health/Financial Seminar - Thursday, February 25
 

Willis Johnson and Associates and the Houston Methodist Hospital presented a seminar on "Understanding and Planning for Diminished Capacity" at the Marriot Energy Corridor Hotel to 64 Shell retirees and their guests. Willis Johnson's team provided an overview of financial actions to consider as family members potentially become unable to effectively manage their financial affairs. Speakers from the Houston Methodist Neurological Institute Nantz National Alzheimer Center discussed the nature of the disease and tools available to diagnose its symptoms.
 

Bordeaux Wine Tasting - February 1, 2016
 

24 Shell Alumni came to the spectacular tasting arranged by Spec's at which French chateau owners, directors and/or wine makers presented over fifty-five Cru Classe' (mostly) wines all from the 2013 vintage. This was our fourth year to join this popular event. Participants get a chance to taste just-bottled wines before they reached the retail shelves.

This tasting was an amazing value and special opportunity to enjoy these well-known and highly regarded wines. The tasting was held at the elegant Crystal Ballroom at the Rice Hotel on Monday, February 1.
 

Galveston Opera House - January 16, 2016
 

For our first event of 2016, SAAGH obtained 30 tickets which were quickly sold out to "The Producers" at the Galveston Opera House on January 16, 2016. This is a great theatre and the show was outstanding.  If you haven�t been to  the Galveston Grand Opera house, you are missing something special.
