Thirty four Shell Alumni and their guests attended the performance of Frederick Knotts Wait Until Dark at the new Queensbury Theater (formally the Country Playhouse) in Town and Country Center on November 14th. The new theater has a state-of-the-art 250-seat main stage.

Financial Seminar 4: Investing in Turbulent Times - November 5

This is the fourth in a series of seminars on financial and benefits information which were areas of interest from the recent SAAGH Member Survey.   Willis Johnson & Associates  provided an informational seminar on investment strategies for volatile markets like weve recently gone through.  They discussed how to avoid making emotional decisions that may reduce long term performance. 15 Shell retirees attended the seminar.

Wine Tasting & Food Pairing Dinner - November 3

In 1976 an event occurred that had a profound effect on the wine world.  In Paris a blind tasting was organized between some of the finest French wines and a group of upstart wines from California.  Much to the chagrin of the French the California wines came out on top.  Was this a fair contest?  To find out, the Shell Alumni Club of Greater Houston conducted its version of The Judgment of Paris.  They blind tasted four flights of wine; each flight had two wines one French the other American.  Each flight was paired with small tapas style portions of food to allow comparison of the wines with and without food. The California wines won three of the four flights to confirm the 1976 event!!! Thirty nine Shell Retirees attended this event.

Texas Wine Country Tour - October 17-18

Twenty one Shell Alumni and their guests went on a tour of the renowned Texas Hill Country wine region near Fredericksburg during Texas wine month.  They enjoyed an afternoon of wine tastings and tours, followed by a relaxing evening and dinner at Kerrville's historical Inn of the Hills, where they spent the night.  The next morning they enjoyed the resort facilities and made one last winery visit to toast the weekend before returning home.
