2014 Annual Fall Luncheon - October 23

Over 260 Shell retirees and their guests attended the Annual Fall Luncheon on Thursday, October 23 at the Lakeside Country Club. SAAGH President Bill Chalmers conducted the business session of the luncheon, reviewing the year's activities and introducing the 2015 Officers and Directors. Speakers included Ted Fitzpatrick, a Shell Retiree and World War II Veteran, United Way President, Anna Babin, President and CEO of the United Way of Greater Houston and Marvin Odum, Shell Oil Company President and Director Upstream Americas. Marvin addressed the company's performance and prospects in the current economic and political environment.

      

      

      

      

      

      

      

      

      

      

      

Handel & Vivaldi Concert - October 18

On October 18, 35 Shell Alumni attended a fantastic afternoon Baroque concert presented by the Mercury Orchestra at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. The event was organized by SAAGH Directors Vaughn Philips and Leola Hancock. Many of the attendees joined for lunch beforehand at Carrabba's:

     

SAAGH Financial Seminar - September 6

On September 6, thirty Shell Alumni attended the first of a series of seminars planned to provide financial and benefits information.  Willis Johnson & Associates made an excellent presentation on the current state of yield; where to find it and the risks associated with obtaining it.  Based on feedback from members future seminars of this nature will be offered. Wine Tasting Event - June 18, 2014

On June 18, 72 Shell Alumni and their guests enjoyed an outstanding evening of fine food and wine at the University of St. Thomas Crooker Center. Nine wines  "FROM OFF THE BEATEN PATH" were served with fine cuisine prepared by Chef Christopher Garcia, a seven year veteran of New Orleans� Ritz Carlton. Pat Kelley, Specialty Brand Manager of Spec�s, provided us with his colorful commentary of his knowledge and experience about each of our fine wine selections. Below are a few pictures from the wine tasting event, which was again sold out this year.

     
     
    
    
    

Barbeque Luncheon at the Houston Farm and Ranch Club - May 14, 2014

On May 14, over 160 alumni attended the Annual Barbeque at the Houston Farm and Ranch Club. The BBQ catered by Demeris was excellent and the weather held with little or no rain during the day. A drawing for door prizes was held and a number of lucky retirees went home with gift cards. Many thanks to Directors Joe Sanchez and Charley Gillard for organizing and putting on this event. Spring Luncheon - April 16, 2014

126 Shell Alumni attended the Spring Luncheon held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Houston Marriott Energy Corridor Hotel. The Honorable Ed Emmett � Harris County Judge and Director of Harris County�s Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management was our guest speaker and gave an outstanding presentation. Wine Tasting - January 21, 2014

Thirty two Shell Alumni attended a wine tasting event on January 21 that was held at the Rice Hotel. Spec's arranged for Bordeaux vintners to present their newly bottled wines to aficionados in Houston before they reached the retail shelves. A total of 60 wines were available for sampling.
